Heidi makes a persuasive argument :) Even though I REALLY need to be working on my Shakespeare paper, I'll post the Virtue and Vice paper. (Yeah, like it'll take so much of my time to copy/paste, right?)

It starts out normal, goes all crazy, and then goes normal again, just so you know. And this is a rough draft, I didn't turn it in this way. And if I in any way offend someone, uh, well, I'm sorry. But I got this paper written in record time, and it wasn't so hard to edit it into something approaching normal.

Virtues and Vices

The most important virtue is that of benevolence. Benevolence can be said to encompass the virtues extolled by many philosophers, By benevolence I mean an inclination toward general kindness and love toward humanity. Frankena frankena frankeeeeeeena, he says that benevolence and justice be the bomb, yo. B-dawg and JJ are the pimpinest virtues because those mofos be the straight up source of all other virtue. Me, I say Frankena talkin' some crazy shit about justice. Benevolence can be argued to be the source of my homey J in that it is an act of good will and kindness to want to treat all bitches equally, hear? All these mofo virtues can be explained as derivitive of the big B-Bomb, baby. Integrity is a good will decision to stick to your cray-z moral principles, yo.

On the flippity flip side, dawg, I ain't arguin' that the only virtue in the whole damn projects, yo. Rather, I'm givin' a great big shout out to benevolence by sayin' that most virtues involve benevolence in some aspect, biatches. Most virtues gotta give props to benevolence as the puff daddy pimp of the virtue world, y?all.

The ho-bitch of the vice world is malice, y?all. Punk ass mofos acting on malice are acting in such a manner that will give no benefit to themselves except in that they find whack joy in the suffering of they homies and hos. Malice, yo, that whack vice is all played. That crack-dealin' philosphizin' bastard, Kant, he lay down the score on malice. Malicious mofos, they be causin' discord between a pimp and his bitch, yo, just to see them fight. Most other vices, like lust, envy, and G-dawg greed, they have some sort of identifiable, if crazy whack, benefit. Lustful mofos, they be fulfilling their carnal, bodily desires, doin' what feels good, yo. Dey be lackin' in self control an' gettin' dey freak on regardless of the consequences, but the temptation is there because it obviously feels uptightouttasite, y'all. Envy, according to Pimpin' K-dawg, is the desire to have something no one else has to the point of takin' it away from others. That, in and of itself has some pretty funky street value and makes you feel like you rise above all those crack-ass punks who don't have all the shiny shit you do. Grigity greed is straight up materialism, y'all, and what's the problem if a pimp just wants some gold chains or a trinket or two for his biatches? I got my toys and fuck the rest of y'all. These whack vices have their obvious temptation, yo, but malice is just enjoyin' the pain of others with no other obvious benefit. K-dawg says this fucked up little biatch is straight from the big D man, Beelzebub, the funky fresh Prince of Darkness, lord of the flies. Bzzzz, baby, bzzzz. Don't hate, baby, don't hate, but that's just what malice does, dawg, it just creates hate for the sake of hate. Malicious players are straight up whack mofos, haytas, and we got no room for haytas in this ghetto, yo.

As benevolence has a place in many virtues, malice has a place in many vices. Elements of malice are found wherever hate plays a role in one's actions. Spiteful jealousy includes malice when one denegrates someone not so much to make themselves look better but because they hate the other. Hate in and of itself creates more hate, thus malice is self multiplying.

This universiality--the idea that benevolence is characteristic of the extremes of virtue and malice is characteristic of the extremes of vice-- is what makes these the acmes of their respective category. Jesus would have it that we cannot act virtuously without benevolence toward our fellow man. The Good Samaritan is the paragon of benevolence, acting with kindness toward a man who would under normal circumstances act with with prejudice and possibly malice toward him. With his benevolence comes his forgiveness and generosity in providing money for the care of the injured man.

A Russian parable is used in the questions at the end of Kant's piece on envy, ingratitude and malice. A woman will be granted one wish with the stipulation that her neighbor will recieve it twofold. Jealously and maliciously, the woman wishes for one of her eyes to be put out. The woman in question becomes malicious out of jealousy-- she wishes to denegrate someone else to make herself the come out on top, and she?s enjoying the suffering of another at the same time. Just as benevolence is to act with good will, so malice is to act with ill will.
