A little Who's Who
Updated May 18, 2004
Family:
Mom
Most of the time she's great, but sometimes it's tough. She teaches at an Alternative Middle School up in Hillsboro.
Dad
The most frustrating man in the world sometimes. But he's cool, especially when it comes to things regarding music. I think he wants to connect somehow with music, so he buys me CDs and a guitar. We have good conversations sometimes, but I get angry when he tries to push diets and enneagrams and all that bullshit on me when I'm clearly not interested. He breeds and shows German Shepherds.
Dorian
My brother, well, half brother, 11 years older than me. Not great in terms of keeping up with me or keeping any kind of appointment with someone as unimportant as his little sister. At least he occasionally makes an effort. He's pretty generally cool, and I'm a lot closer to him than my sister.
Joanne
I've never been close to my sister. Half sister, actually, 7 years older than me. She wasn't around much when I was growing up, choosing instead to live with her mother. What am I going to do about it, complain? She's practically a stranger to me. She's getting married in fall, providing me with an opportunity to shop for a new dress and visit the east coast.
Dolly
My dog, Amidala. She's a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, and really cute. Unfortunately, she loves my dog thieving mother more than she loves me. Also known as Roo or Rufus.
Jubee, Billy, Nezzie
German Shepherds from the kennel.
OSU:
Amy
A high school friend. We've had our issues, though she might not know it. We get along pretty well now.
Andrew
Andrew is gay and proud of that. I'm happy for him, but it looks like the beginning of issues. He and Amy live together, which brings it's own friction and drama. His new boyfriend, Ryan, looks like trouble.
U of O:
Ena
My housemate, sometimes a frustration, mostly due to a bizarre common sense deficiency. I've recently come to realize how much I'll miss having her around when we part ways at the end of this year.
Moni
There's a whole complicated history here. Suffice it to say Moni and I had a period where we fought like cats and dogs. That's over, and we occasionally hang out.
Leah
No longer a student here, but still sometimes met during NaNoWriMo meetings.
Saunders
My advisor, Who fan, and generally one of the most awesome professors I've met (along with Wojcik and Woideck). I am slightly intimidated by my silly girl worshipfulness. It's wonderful to have people who you really admire, just for themselves.
Elsewhere:
Martha
I think Martha is just about the coolest person I know. Martha is also responsible for me loving the Monkees at this point in my life. We keep up an almost constant email correspondence and now that I'm using MSN messenger, long IM conversations. We're also writing a story with Amy and have attended several concerts together.
Jodi
Best friend by chronology. I've known Jo since I was about 2 or 3 years old. She's in Australia now, so we don't get to talk much anymore.
Slavik
Slavik's in New York, soon to be in Portland. He's someone to get pretentious and discuss art and music and iPod ownership with.
Belle
Belle is a friend of mine who lives in Portland. We were on the radio together as experts on the Monkees, and we occasionally have Monkee parties and long chats on the phone. I'm starting to get annoyed with her lately, and wish I had the courage to cut her out of the radio show thing, but I'm pathologically nice.Online Friends
Rach
She's rather younger than me, but we talk fanfic over AIM and I host one of her stories on my site. Nesmith fan. We're fanfic buddies, and we met for one glorious day at Disney's California Adventure Park for a Monkees 2002 concert. Rock on.
Jessica
A cool girl. She reminds me a lot of Martha in personality. Big fan of Micky Dolenz. She's actually left the world of the 'net and I wrote her a real letter, but I have yet to get any sort of response.
Candace
Townshend lover extraordinaire. She's become as equally valuable to me as Rach and Jessica, whom I've corresponded with for years. The best person to swoon over Pete with. Or discuss guitars and the rockin' potential of girls.
